I am fairly new to the game of golf and this LB was the first course I ever played. The course itself is fun and easy to play. Tons of mature trees on the course makes it feel a little more "historical" than some of the newer courses in the area. By that I just mean you can tell they built the course from the existing land rather than bringing in tons of landscaping to build a new course. With that being said, you can definitely tell it is an older course. The quality of the greens and fairways could be alot better. But it is a muni course that costs $30 to play, so it comes with the territory. Also with the great rates comes alot of players. So you can expect it to back up a little more than usual due to the players ahead of you.Overall I think this is a fun, relaxed course to play. It has alot of tradition and you don't have to spend an arm and leg to enjoy a round. In fact, it is a great course to walk which saves you on the cart fees! With that being said, expect the round to go long and don't be expecting Pebble Beach greens cause you just won't find them here.
This is a muni course on the Trinity River bed. It has great potential as an ecology/golf type experience. We always see many animals- especially turtles, snakes, birds... The practice areas are nice. The lessons for junior golfers are reasonable and the staff is talented. The course condition varies a lot depending on the season. Dallas weather has extremes, if you play in the spring and fall, you can expect good to very good conditions. If you play in August or January, they are not so perfect.
I played this course after attending the 2010 Byron Nelson with my nephew and I was pleasantly surprised with the condition of the course especially the greens. The greens were in such great shape for a muni course. The course was a great value and a great time so I plan on playing there more often.
