I played the Golf Club of Dallas for the first time today. It is a historical site, home of the Byron Nelson Classic in the 1950s. I was expecting a somewhat rundown facility and dated course with relatively flat course bermuda greens. I was pleasantly surprised. I played the tips at around 6700 yds (par 70). The fairways were well defined, the rough was quite thick and lush on many holes, the greens were in excellent condition, and the overall course maintenance was very good. This is a Perry and Press Maxwell design (Perry Maxwell designed Colonial in Fort Worth, Southern Hills in Tulsa, among other great courses). It would be well worth your time to play this historic hidden gem.
This is a great place to come play a challanging and fun course. I'm never bored, and I always have a great time when I'm here. I live a very busy life, and I can get on and off the course in less than 4 hours. The staff is so nice and professional. They make you feel like part of the family every time you come out.
I completely agree with golfingirl...this is such a fun course to play! I work in downtown, and it's a breeze to just come out and play whenever I feel like it. The staff is so curtious and professional as well. I love it!
