I was out in the country fixing for some golf. I checked TeeTimes.com and this came up. I live in Austin for 25+ years and never heard of this course. I was expecting a hunky dory type of course. Lo and Behold, to my surprise, this was a gem that is not advertised. Met David at the pro shop, he was all by himself. The course was empty. I paid my green fee and went ahead to play. First impression was that the bunkers somehow reminded me of Palmer's Wildfire in Phoenix. Wow, best greens in Central Austin hands down. The ball rolled pure. The fairways and tee boxes were alright, nothing that would affect your game/swing. Shot 73 and then I stayed around their practice facility. Love it there! I will definitely be back. The 18 HC Par 3 hole in the back 9 (I think 12 or 13th hole) was not easy! From the back tees, I tried to hit my 3 Wood SIX times only to hit the water in front all time because I was facing the wind. (Practice round) This should be rated 1 HC! The only delta is that it is quite a drive from Austin. Maybe its better off that way so we can enjoy the course to ourselves. Paul
Lush wide fairways, large fast smooth greens with modest slopes that hold approach shots well, rolling hills with abundant mounds. Large number of sand traps that guard all greens. Outstanding range and practice facilities. Very friendly staff. Uncrowded on weekdays. Only three forced carries over water on back nine par threes. I will definitely return.
