Have to agree with bigdgolf. Hated it. The staff is rude, disgruntled and lied to us about our tee time also. It is full of A-hole members that don't want outsiders on their course. I play all over the dfw area at many courses and have never been treated like these people treat you.
What a great course. It has a great layout and the greens are the best in North Texas. My group plays 2-3 times a week and this is a top 5 course for us. The staff was very friendly and they took good care of us. The grill make a great hamburger and the beer was cold. I reccommend this to anyone who is looking for great putting greens and a course that is not overcrowded.
DO NOT PLAY THIS GOLF COURSE. I PLAY 2 TO 3 ROUNDS A WEEK AND THIS IS THE WORST GOLF EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD. DON'T TAKE MY ADVICE FOR IT THOUGH. SEARCH THE INTERNET AND YOU WILL QUICKLY FIND THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT STAFF AND CURRENT MEMBER ATTITUDES. YOU KNOW THAT FAILED TO MAKE THE TOUR, MY DREAMS ARE CRUSHED, NOW I AM ANGRY AND WORK IN THE PRO SHOP ATTITUDE. AT THE GOLF CLUB OF MCKINNEY IT WAS BLATANT, UNMISTAKABLE, AND DISGUSTING!SEMI PRIVATE CLUB, THE STAFF AND MEMBERS TREAT OUTSIDERS LIKE THEY ARE AT AUGUSTA NATIONAL INSTEAD OF (MORE REALISTICALLY THE VILLAGES). THE MEMBERS THAT PAY $150 PER MONTH ACT LIKE THEY OWN IT. THERE IS A REASON, THAT THEY ARE TRYING TO GIVE AWAY GOLF MEMBERSHIPS! FOR THAT AMOUNT OF MONEY ITS STILL NOT WORTH IT. I WOULD NOT PLAY THERE FOR FREE, I WAS MAD ABOUT IT FOR 6 HOURS AFTER THE ROUND. JUST PLAY SOMEWHERE WITH A FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE THAT IS RELAXED, AND A BETTER DEAL. YOU WILL THANK YOURSELF.
Golfed the course in December it was very wet and sloppy so I can't do a fair review on the course. What I want to comment on is the Pro shop staff. Even though we had advance tee times they inserted a group of golfers in our and others tee times without telling us. After taking other golfers tee times this group screwed around on the tee box taking 2 to 3 drives and throwing fire crackers with the starter right there. May be a nice course but has no class. Will never golf there again.
I have to say that this course has plenty of beautiful scenery and the course is in immaculate condition. The maintenance crew is doing a great job there.I enjoy golfing with more of a challenge and at a slope of 142 from the tips it plays tough. The greens are well guarded with moguls around them and the bunkers actually have soft sand in them , amazing. The membership is well worth it.I usually dont go back on my word but shortly after joining there became aparent that there were serious issue's with the staff there and that they cant seem to schedule anything right when it comes to there events. The first draw was with roy the car barn guy, this guy shouldn't even be allowed to work with people because he is surely not a people person, enough said. I have waited 2 weeks for 3 seperate events to only have them cancelled without my knowledge only to find out the morning of the tournament. The assistant pro in the golf shop told me to sign up for this weeks mga tournament this morning so I wouldnt miss it,and when I showed up this morning the head pro said he had already paired everyone up for the tournamnet and basically I was SOL.In closing I just want to say that golf is supposed to be enjoyable at least for me and when I am continually battling people to have fun something has gotta give, and where I come from the customer is always right but I guess they dont see it that way.Therfore I have made my decision to cancel my membership and join a real country club where they make me feel welcome.
The greens can too frequently be ridiculous with outrageous pin placements, and their maintenance is below average. One hole, even a week after any rain, is such a mess of slop that they play it as a par three instead of four, but no one tells you this. The first and tenth are extremely difficult starting holes so the course always starts you off with a punch in the mouth. I only played the course because of Lone Star cards, and I won't be back.
