When Totter Ridge opened to the public the course was amazing 5 STAR ALL THE WAY. Now during the last 3 years the course has fallen to public play. This past weekend I played the course for the first time in 2 years, and I was shocked on how terrible the greens were maintained. Hundreds of new and old ball marks. Its like the grass is way to thin on the greens. A 5 Star course fell to a 2 star course. Its not worth the fee they charge unless the greens are redone with a thicker grass. When you fix a ballmark it shouldn't be a mud/dirt spot. I'm a stickler when it comes to ballmarks. I fix mine and any others I see. Arnold Palmer taught me to take care of the course. That was in high school golf 1982-1985.Eric
this course is a player's delight. great sight lines. challenging shots. challenging from all tees. played it from the back which was tough early in the year with no bounce but still playable. great range. only thing that wasn't terrific was clubhouse.
This course expects a little too much for the ordinary golfer. Missing by inches can result in a two stroke difference here. Though the course looks somewhat open, it's anything but. What I disliked here was the condition of the greens (many marks) and their speed. Any mis-judgement of speed and off your ball went...too many putts that were severly sloped. Maybe a tournament took place before we arrived...but the set-up was a little too out of the ordinary. I'm a low 80s golfer that ended up with a 99...so would be a challengers delight...but no forgiveness made this course a little too difficult for my $$$. I don't mind a challenge...but when inches result in two stroke differences, I find little enjoyment in the experience. Some gorgeous holes out there!
