First, don't judge the course by the rating score, its worth playing and fun.

Its always difficult giving stars and reviewing courses like this one. Its out in nowhere and who would have thought there was a golf course in Jackpot, NV? If compared to other desert golf courses in Arizona, no comparison - those courses are five stars and have major tournaments played there. This course is a diamond in the rough - literally. Nice fairways with well defined rough on the edges. Just wide enough to reward accuracy, and not too narrow to be ridiculous.

If you like the views, it is quite spectacular, especially the Par 3 200 yard 4th Hole (I believe 4th hole from memory). I enjoyed mooing at the free range cattle. Greens are wicked fast, and realized its hard dirt underneath compounded by the desert dryness. Putts go way farther than expected.

I'm not sure why others gave the amenities such a low score. Kim is great and very polite at the counter. She stayed half an hour later so I could squeeze in a round - which i'm grateful as I planned on golfing tomorrow and its snowing this evening. There is a decent bar/dining area and a small pro shop stocked with the usual clothing (ping, footboy), etc. Didn't eat there, just snacks,, so maybe thats why they gave it a lower score?

I thoroughly enjoyed the course. Hard to explain, but it was a lot of fun. I think its because its a good test/ measure of your golf skills in that they aren't ridiculously long (or short) par 4s and 3s. If you drive 230 yards and hit your 3 iron 180s, then you should play par if you play perfect (statement of the obvious, but you know what I mean - you're not a super long or short hitter). If you're a scratch or single handicapper golfer you'll find it boring, but enjoy the view and being outside of a smoked filled casino.

You want a cart. Most holes are either going up or down. Greens are in good shape. Course knowledge would improve your score, as some holes have blind tee shots, and some have doglegs.
Unexpected course quality for such small blip in the desert.
