I really like this course. I try to hit them up when I'm in Pensacola.
Marcus Pointe at one time was my favorite course to play in Pensacola. Well maintained, lovely scenery, pleasant degree of difficulty for the average golfer. However, for some time now, there is a total lack of player management. The past three times I have played there, once, I simply left and demanded a rain ticket due to carts stacked four and five deep at holes throughout the course waiting to play. This past time, I was told to tee off on the back nine (???) when there was no play on the front. Giving the benefit of the doubt (watering, grass cutting, etc.) I did, only to find my twosome behind a fivesome (when did this fivesome thing start?) in three carts followed by a threesome with a small child. It took almost 4 1/2 hours to play the round. My point is, there is no marshall seeing play keeps moving, lots of out-of-towners who feel golf would be fun and do so on a whim, having no idea of golf etiquette and a staff that could care less.If you don't mind sitting around waiting long periods of time at each hole, the twilight rates are reasonable and specials can be had at various times throughout the year. This would be a really good course if those running it took interest in the game of golf as it was intended to be played.
A really nice layout. play was a little slow because of course activity. Check around for soecial deals. Currently hace coupon in South Coast Golf Guide. 2 players for $30 and it one of the best courses we have played in the week that we have been in area. Would like to return!
