I played Metro West on 7/19/2020. It was in terrible condition. The tee boxes, fairways, greens, rough and cart paths are in very poor condition. I am not a golf snob at all. It is clear to me that either the previous or current ownership group is not spending money at all. The rough was full of weeds and grass so high that a ball 5 feet off the fairway was essentially gone. Trust me, do not spend your hard earned money to golf there unless you enjoy cow pastures.
Really thought this would be a top of the line course. Above average maintenance for public course, navigator is always helpful although it stopped working after 14th hole, but basically its a typical between condo Florida golf course that I think charges a bit too much without a coupon. Nice but not much above average. BEware course is not well marked. had trouble finding holes!
Good Course a bit slow paced because its a resort course and very busy but well looked maintained.
I'm not a city golf type person that needs a big clubhouse, comp valet parking, or my clubs wiped down for my golf experience to be positive. Passed up Shingle Creek to play here, because it was last day before they punched and heard a lot of good things about it. I was very dissappointed with the layout, the 4-6 lane highway that runs through the middle of the whole course, the condos/apartments that have blow-up kiddy pools in their yards/course, but most of all the conditions. For $45 late rate greens fee in June, it was the lowlight of my 35 courses in a month long trip.
It's a pretty nice layout that plays fair if you can keep it in play. Has a bit of an "artificial" feel to it though as it's easy to see a lot of dirt was moved to create some of the elevation changes. A few pretty good holes, but overall it lacked some of strategy that's more evident on the really good layouts (modern and classic design). Got to play it for a really good deal, so it was worth it for that. Not sure if I would pay their full asking price to go play it again though. Course was in good shape since they had just had a US Open qualifier there the week before.
