This course is just an O.k course, which I wish I could say was better because the super nice pro shop staff guy told me the course was in financial difficulty. Everything about this course is just alright, from the maintenance to the uniqueness of the holes, to the condition of the greens. Even the price was barely justifiable ($26 to walk mid afternoon on a summer weekend) Normally that price would be great, but it's only barely fair for how blah this course is. Amazingly, the course was packed which shouldn't be held against the course but kinda does. There must not be many $30 courses in Deleware because the quality simply didn't justify how many people were playing it. They did have logo balls, a huge plus for me and I can't emphasize enough how nice the pro shop guy was. In fact, he even offered a rain check because of some thunder in the area. Not many courses, at least that I know of would do that after you play more than a few holes. Go play this course because I hate seeing any golf course close. Overall rating C-.
Ed "porky" Olivers is a fun and very affordable course which is in the process of making themselves much better. The biggest upgrade that I noticed (played last week) was a complete rebuild of nearly all bunkers and surrounding grass. The bunkers are almost finished the complete rebuild and the sod around them looks beautiful. A few weeks of treatment will make what was one of the biggest downfalls a strong point. The course is pretty short (~5800 yrds, par 69) but has its share of difficulties. All things considered, this is a course I play often because the price is right (~$25 after 2 or 3pm weekday, little more on weekend)and it is great for mid to high handicappers. Low handicappers and scratch golfers will play this course under par, but will enjoy it. Check it out.
